# What is Loss Shield?

The Loss Shield is a unique feature designed to help users <mark style="color:blue;">**recover their prediction costs in the event of an incorrect prediction**</mark>. It must be activated at the time of making the prediction. Once a prediction is placed, the Loss Shield cannot be added retroactively. If activated successfully, your Prodds Predict NFT will display a Loss Shield logo, signifying that your prediction cost is protected.

## Who is Eligible for the Loss Shield Feature?

<mark style="color:blue;">**All users who have imported an NFT with available Loss Shields can activate this feature**</mark> to protect their predictions from losses. Loss Shields are exclusive to specific Prodds-issued NFTs, each containing a set number of shields that refund the prediction cost if unsuccessful.

In the last **Community Campaign 2024**, users had the opportunity to acquire these special NFTs with Loss Shield functionality, and more events will follow to help users unlock this valuable feature.

Looking ahead, our upcoming **Prophet Program** will offer another way to access the Loss Shield feature, so stay tuned for more details!

## How do we maintain fairness?

To maintain fairness for all participants, Loss Shields are allowed selectively based on the pool size. A prediction pool <mark style="color:blue;">**will accept the first Loss Shield once the Aggregate Pool Value exceeds 100,000 $RDM**</mark>. Additional Loss Shields can be activated at each increment of 100,000 $RDM, on a first-come, first-served basis.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://prodds.gitbook.io/prodds/prodds-predict/what-is-loss-shield.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
